イタリアのフィレンツェの屋根の色や壁の色は見事です。
この町全体が同じ色に統一されているのは、近くの山で取れる土の色が同じであり、確かに、統一した街並みに対する考え方もあるかとは思いますが、やはり地元の土、地元の山から出たものを建材に使っているから、このような統一性がでてきます。

日本も実は、昔は、山から出た土、又は、田んぼの泥土を使って、家の壁を塗っていました。
そもそも、現地調達が多く、遠くから取り寄せることが少なかったのです。
ですから、建材も高いものでもなかったし、当然、ありふれた材料でもあったのです。土の壁があたりまえで、この数十年でクロスというものが広まったにもかかわらず、土塗り壁が特別になってしまいました。
輸入・工業化製品があたりまえになってしまった今、クロスやその他工業化製品があたりまえで、そのような製品の方が安心するというのは、現代人だからでしょう。
さて、自然素材として販売されている土の壁は、その現地では使われてきたものもあります。
漆喰が最も日本においての土壁の代表例であり、石灰に海草など加え使いますが、この漆喰を塗る前の下地の土は、現地の土でした。
ですので、本当は、自然住宅と謳うのであれば、現地の材料を使い、現地で建てる事こそが一番良いことなんですが、今のご時世では、全ては無理です。
せめて壁くらいと思いますが、法律の関係上、例えば、郊外ではなく街中では、不燃材料の規制もあり、使えません。
でも、本当に現地調達であれば、メンテナンスも簡単で、壊れても補修が楽だったでしょう・・・・・
昔の方が面倒くさくなっかったのかもしれません。
土塗り壁を見ていて思うのは、現代人は昔の人よりも機械や食事が進歩し、リッチに感じますが、実は、心だけでなく、住居までも貧しくなったのかもしれません。見た目や生活は裕福になっても、肝心の中身が貧しいのではしょうがないと思いました。
