先日、打合せで、古民家 いわゆる昔の農家の母屋といえる家にお住いの方ところへ打合せに行きました。
この方は、今度、集会所で予定の、和紙を貼って頂く方の家なのですが、ちょうど昼時で、暑い時間帯でもありましたが、中へ入るとびっくり！
涼しいのです！
なんという涼しさ、そして心地良い湿度！
理由を聞くと、土でできた本当の土間が機能していると仰っていました。

土間の状況を見ると、湿っていて、だからといってぐちゃぐちゃではなく、適度に湿っているのです。
土間が熱や湿気をコントロールしているのです。
昔の日本の家って凄いですね。
そういえば、今の土間と言われるものは、土間ではなく、コンクリートの床・・・・「コン間」ですね。
コン間では、熱や湿度をコントロールすることはありません。
また、それだけでなく、屋根も瓦葺で、天井も高く、壁も土壁・・・そういう総合的な良さで、クーラー要らずなんですね。
集会所でも壁や屋根の断熱材で、こだわった材料を使用していますが、目指すべき家というものがどういうものかが分かった気がします。いや、今までが目指すべき家が間違っていました。
現在の日本の家は、工業化製品でできています。断熱材も石油製品ですし、仕上げのクロスだって・・・・確かに、耐震性や耐火性を考えた場合、昔の家が強いわけではないのですが、おそらく、環境製については、昔の家のほうが上だったと思います。
昔の家に耐震性・耐火性を付加する家の方が良い家なのでは？
と考えさせる出来事でした。
